Every quarter, Genito Presbyterian chooses an area of special need in the community or region which will be the focus of greater prayer and thoughtful giving. Our most recent projects were:
We collected donations of household goods and money to stock the temporary shelter provided for those in imminent danger from domestic and sexual violence.
We assembled activity packs for the Happy Wheels program. These packs of small toys and entertaining activities are provided to families who wait long hours in the pediatric wards of local hospitals.
Our fourth quarter project is purchasing clothing, diapers, and supplies for Afghan refugee children at Fort Pickett, Virginia.
Other non-profits we have recently supported include:
Ongoing In-Church Projects:
The Genito Presbyterian Church Blessing Box allows community members in need to help themselves as needed or leave donations for others.
Pat Nelson Food Collection Project
The Pat Nelson Food Collection Project – provides food for the needy. Canned and dry foods can be placed in the designated area in the church foyer.
Powhatan Food Pantry
Bring non-perishable food and supplies to the church, and a volunteer will deliver it to the Food Pantry where it will be distributed to Powhatan residents who need it. You can also mail a check made out to Powhatan Food Pantry to this address:
